9xBuddy Download Failed? How to Fix Common Problems

Fix failed downloads in 9xBuddy: choose Retry or Restart, refresh expired links, check disk space and find completed files in Library.

9xBuddy Download Failed? How to Fix Common Problems

When a 9xBuddy download fails, open Downloads → Failed and read the message on the stopped item. Retry handles a temporary interruption; Restart gets a fresh media link; Browser helps when the source needs a session. Choosing the right action saves you from repeating a step that cannot fix the cause.

This guide covers the 9xBuddy desktop app on Windows, macOS and Linux.

Retry or Restart: which should you use?

A connection drop and an expired link can leave the same unfinished file, but they need different fixes:

  • Network drop or server error: restore your connection, then choose Retry. For a rate-limit message, wait before trying again.
  • Link expired or format gone: choose Restart. It re-extracts the original source and starts again with a fresh link.
  • Sign-in wall or browser challenge: try Browser to open the source and establish the session it needs.

Retry uses the same transfer. Resuming from the bytes already received depends on the source; it is not guaranteed. Restart cannot restore a format the source no longer offers.

Individual manual retry is available on Free. The built-in browser and automatic retry require an active trial or Pro. The download queue guide explains these controls.

No formats found? Check the original page

If the link never produced formats, troubleshoot the page before the queue. Open it in your usual browser and check that the media still plays. Copy the direct video or post URL rather than an embed or search link, then try it by itself.

For pages that need a session, follow the browser and cookies guide. Only download content you are permitted to save. Removed, private, region-restricted or DRM-protected media can remain unavailable even when the page opens.

Check disk space and the download folder

For storage errors, check free space and write access to the destination folder. Also check Settings → Downloads → Temporary storage: the in-progress file needs space there before it receives its final name.

Fix the storage problem before retrying. Leave unrelated transfers running, and avoid deleting temporary files they may still be using.

If new downloads stop starting after several files, check Account. Free allows five download starts a day; the allowance returns the next day. See Free and Pro for the current limits.

Finished files move to Library

An item leaving Downloads may have completed successfully. Look in Library and use Show in folder to find the file where it was actually saved. Your current default folder may differ from the one used for an older download.

Still failing? Update and keep the error message

Install the latest 9xBuddy release and try the affected item again. Sources change, so an updated extractor may resolve the problem.

If it persists, use the troubleshooting reference. For support, note your operating system, app version, source site and exact error. Keep credentials, cookies and private media URLs out of the report.

Once the file is saved, keep a useful copy with its source recorded, so you can find it again without repeating the download.
